First..... yes, I know I spelled "their" incorrectly....  speed does not become me.  Ha!!
Also community group will be at the City Smiths this Friday at 7PM.  Please let me know if you will be able to make it.  We had a quick but sweet prayer time after church with Suzanne who is leaving today.  Again, continue to pray for her and for Jennifer.
My mind always goes back to this verse and all of the verses of Ps 56.... not sure why today, but here it is...
Ps 56:9b "This I know.... that God is for me.  10 In God whose word I praise... in the Lord whose word I praise... 11 In God I have put my trust, I shall not be afraid, what can man do to me?"
Have a great day in Him.... full of the Spirit.... singing and making melody to the Lord!

This is from David Platt's church where there emphasis has been to pray for the horn of Africa.  Just wanted to share it with you as we pray for Suzanne as she is leaving today for Africa herself.  She will update us with emails as they have electricity and time to use the computer.

Call to Prayer (5 ways)

Can you think of anything you do 5 times every day? There are very few things on my list! But faithful Muslim people take time to pray 5 times every day. Before praying a Muslim will ceremonially wash their hands, feet and face to make themselves "clean enough" to be heard by God. Then they face the east, lay out their prayer mat and bow and prostrate themselves.

Lift up those who are seeking to be right and clean before God. Ask that they will find the one, true God! Ask and that they will find freedom from ritual and accept the Way they can be made righteous before Him once and for all. Ask that they will share their joy with their families, neighbors and friends and that they too will find Him.

I don’t know what is on your list of things you do 5 times a day, but here are some ideas…

1. Today, each time you look at your phone, pray for the Horn.
2. Each time you eat a meal or snack, pray for the Horn
3. Each time you check your email or facebook, page pray for the Horn.

Challenge

When a Muslim prays; they bend, kneel, bow and repeat the process. Use the internet to research and better understand this process. Pray for the Horn in all these positions today.

Today, at 4am, 11am, 3pm, 6pm and 10pm, wherever you are, stop what you are doing, get on your knees and pray to the Father on behalf of the Horn.

Suzanne and Africa

David Platts church is praying for the horn of Africa specifically for this period of time.  As God would have it Suzanne is going to Africa next Monday.... so let's combine these and pray for both.  We love you, Suzanne!!!!

Throughout the weeks leading up to Secret Church we will post information and prayer requests on this blog. We invite you to join us in learning about and praying for the people of the Horn.

Over the next two days, pray specifically for the following people groups in Kenya.
The Muslim Oromo-related peoples of the northeast have no churches among them.
The Rendille, Samburu, and Daasenach are largely pastoral, animistic peoples who live in the north and west parts of Kenya. There are very few believers among these people groups, but they are increasingly responding to the gospel.
Instability in Somalia has driven tens of thousands of Somalis into the northeast and cities of Kenya. They often bring their strife with them but are also more open to the gospel. Numerous Christian workers are reaching out to the Somali in Kenya.
The coastal Swahili and Arab populations are strongly Muslim and largely unreached. They tend to be quite resistant to outreach. Some Kenyan churches now minister to these groups.
Ways to Pray

• Pray for churches to be established among the Muslim Oromo peoples. Ask God to send Christ-followers from other people groups to witness among this group.
• Pray for well-led, culturally appropriate churches to be established among the Rendille, Samburu, and Daasenach.
• Pray for those working with Somalis in Kenya. Ask God to provide abundant opportunities for them to hear the gospel.
• Pray for Kenyan churches that are reaching out to Swahili and Arab peoples. Pray that they would share a testimony of truth, power, and love.

Update on Jack

God is so good! Jack had his MRI late morning and got back to the waiting room about 1:00PM. They read his MRI this afternoon and could find no tumors or anything. He still has seizures which he can possibly outgrow. He will stay on his liquid medication. Needless to say, this is absolutely great news. They were jumping with joy in Booneville when they got the MRI reading. We are thanking God for hearing our and your prayers. Linda and I and the family cannot thank you enough for standing with us before the throne for little, happy Jack. All praise be to Almighty God!

Good Friday

Update on Jack

Jack went to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis late Thursday afternoon for an EEG, which means attaching electrodes to his head and checking the brain. Something was going on in the font two lobes of his brain, so Erin and Linda will be taking Emery and Jack back to Le Bonheur for an MRI on Monday morning at 9:30 AM. The doctors will read the MRI, and hopefully we should know the results by midweek.
I left for Booneville early Thursday morning and came back Saturday morning. I can report that Emery is doing fantastic and is a very pretty, contented little girl. Jack has had no more seizures since Wednesday or Thursday AM. I can't recall which day the last one was. Also, after the Le Bonheur EEG they put him on some kind of medication which is probably helping. Also, I can report that Jack is very active and learning to walk on his on, lots of ups and downs, and is a very happy little boy, with a smile on his face for everyone about 98% of the time.
Please continue to hold him up before the Lord. We know God is sovereign and loves Jack more than we ever could. We have to just leave him in His hands, but with these earthly emotional attachments we make, it's still difficult. The family does so appreciate your prayers, so please remember Monday morning.

Jack

Jack, my daughter Erin's one year old is having episodic seizures, which are short seizures followed by him falling deep asleep. They have called his pediatrician and will probably be taking him to Tupelo to the hospital tonight. I'm sure tests will follow. Please hold Jack up in prayer, as well as his doctors, Erin, Erik, and the kids. God is good. Thank you all.

Grayson Picture and Jennifer Update

at the request of Suzanne.....Sunday was a glorious day...Grayson was baptized at Belleview Baptist in Memphis. The picture is taken in Honduras while he was there on a mission trip. He and a group of friends had just climbed a mountain and were seated at the foot of the cross.

Jennifer is home and doing extremely well. I am sure this is a result of many prayers on her behalf. Thank you for your prayers and please continue to pray for her...it is one day at a time.

Emery Elaine

Grandmother Linda and Grandfather Jim are proud to announce the birth of Emery Elaine (19" & 7 lb 4 oz) yesterday !! Praise our Lord Jesus !!!

Erin

Erin's fluid level keeps going down and they are going to meet the doctor at the hospital on Sunday aft to recheck her unless she goes on her own before that. She is dilating some so I am going over tomorrow so we will be ready for Sunday. They might wait until Mon or later but I doubt it. She will be only three weeks early on Monday which is pretty safe. Lots of info to say.... Pray for easy delivery and healthy baby and calm Grandma. Ha! I will be gone for a couple weeks but will check in.

Grayson and Prayer requests

Just stopping in to try to send you the picture of Grayson.... the miracle boy is being God's miracle in Nicaragua.... opps did I spell that right???  How cute is he and how his face shines in this picture.  Love it... Love God.

Now prayer requests....  continute to pray for Jennifer, Felicia, Jeremy, Little Kelly, the Browns, Dan and Dorothy... well.... all of us, right?  I will add Peyton who has cheerleading tryouts today (God's Will) and leaves tomorrow AM from Tulsa... for Guatemala for spring break.   Also for Erin who has some sickness in her house and is beginning to cramp and her water level in utero is going down.... so I will be going there soon, I think.  God knows!!!

Want to take this opportunity to tell you that I love you and appreciate you... your prayers, phone calls to check in on things and on Jennifer.  We need to stand in prayer together for all that is going on... seek His face and His will for the deliverance of all of those we pray for.  Many are the afflictions of the righteous and He delivers them out of them all.   Glory to His Name!!!!!

Community Group change

Community Group Meeting will be a Suzanne's this coming Friday, March 9th, at 7PM.  I will be out of town and Suzanne has graciously offered to have us at her home again. Last meeting was a great time of sharing and prayer.  Please let her know if you will not be able to come.  Thanks so much.

Please pray for some sweet friends of ours from Excelsior who lost their 21 month old son, Mobley, tragically yesterday afternoon in an accidental drowning. Their names are Matt and Meagan. Matt was out of the country on business and is presently making his way back. He will get in late this evening. The whole situation is so difficult and tragic that I really don't have words. I just ask that any of you who happen upon this post will lift up my sweet friends. Meagan is the sweetest and kindest and most loving of mothers. She has a huge heart and was one of the first things I loved about being a part of Excelsior. Also, please pray for their other three children ~ Miles who is 9, Kayla who is 6, and Maggie who is 4. Erin has a friend named Megan who is a precious Christian.  Her child who was almost 2 years old drowned yesterday in a culvert.  Her husband who works for AFR in Tupelo was in Scotland on business and is on his way home.  Please pray....  Unimaginable pain.....  Thanks!

Thanks for praying for us yesterday when we taught Spiritual Warfare and the Armor of God for the second week at Hidden Creek. Whoa! Last week was tough.... This week was all God!!!! Praise His holy name! Pray that God continues to use the truths in their lives and in ours.

Dans dad's Memorial Service

Dan's dad's Memorial Service will be on Thursday afternoon at 1PM at the Bible Church. Please continue to pray for the family and that they will experience peace through this time.

We will be taking a meal to them on Wednesday evening. If I haven't contacted you please call me is you can help with the meal. Thanks so much.

Mel and Community Group info

Well, Mel has gone home to be with the Lord.  Absent from the body.... present with the Lord. What a blessed truth!! Continue to pray for Dan and Dorothy as they make arrangments for the funeral, etc.  and for that peace that passes understanding through it all.  We will be making plans to take a meal to them as soon as they set the day for the service, etc.  Thanks to all of you that have visited or taken something to them.

Also we will be having community group at our home this coming Friday night (City Smiths).  If you did not get a copy of the calendar and the group info (addresses, etc) you can get one Friday night, or I can send you a file by email.  Donna, Ernie, and Dan, yours are on the way in an email as I write.

Dan's Dad

Dan's dad is settled in at the Hospice Home Care facility on Bowman Road.  Please continue to pray for him..There is one issue that we also need to pray about concerning Medicare.  Medicare will not pay for him at this facility unless no other nursing home will take him with the "no feeding tube" stipulation.  The law in Arkansas is such that no nursing home is supposed to take him with this stipulation (which is reserved for hospice care....) so it should not be a problem.  But by law the Hospice Home Care must call all other nursing homes in the area to make sure they will not take him.  Dorothy asks us to pray that they do not find one that will take him since he is settled there and they are, of course, wanting medicare to pay for him from the first day.  Soooo let's take that to the Lord.  ( I pray that I explained it correctly and so that it is clear.)  Thanks for your prayers for this and other things pertaining to Mel's gentle and peaceful homegoing.  To Him be the glory.

Dan's Dad

Dan's dad was to be moved to the Hospice Care facility on Bowman last night.  That is the same one that Donna's mom and Suzanne's dad were in when they went home.  I am assuming that the move was accomplished.   Please keep them all in prayer and that His homegoing will be gentle and sweet as he goes to meet his Savior face to face.  Praise the Lord!

Dan says that his dad is doing a little better.  He had the test run this morning so Dan will let us know when the doctor calls with the results.  Please keep them all in prayer.  Dorothy's vertigo is acting up a little and is very tired.

Location: China Arrested: February 2009 Days Imprisoned: 210 Unknown Print Fact Sheet 08/24/2009 Update 03/31/2010 Update Since 2005, Gao has been repeatedly arrested, imprisoned and severely tortured by Chinese authorities, mostly for his human rights work. In 2006, he and a group of prominent human rights lawyers created the Association of Human Rights Attorneys for Chinese Christians. That same year, Gao was sentenced to five years of probation for inciting “subversion of the state.” After serving three years in prison, Gao was supposedly released on probation but he disappeared for extended periods of time. In 2007, he was arrested and spent over 50 days behind bars where he was tortured. “I was beaten so badly that my whole body began shaking uncontrollably on the floor,” Gao wrote in an open letter. Gao last reappears out of police custody in April 2010. He told the Associated Press that he had been shunted between detention centers, farmhouses and apartments across northern China. Security forces repeatedly abused him, beating him with electric batons, pistol-whipping him and holding burning cigarettes close to his eyes. “Not only is it now extremely difficult for me to make my voice heard, but it is also extremely dangerous,” Gao wrote in an essay in 2009. “In the past three-plus years, the authorities invested a great deal of manpower, physical resources and funds, and employed the most merciless methods, to achieve their goal of silencing me.”

Prayer request from Dan

Just a note to tell you that on Friday Dan's dad almost died from pneumonia.  He was taken to Baptist hospital where he remains today.  The problem is his inability to swallow which untimately causes the pneumonia.  He will have a swallow test today, and if he fails that test he will probably go to Hospice.  Please pray for him and the whole family as they go through this time.  Dan said that Dorothy is doing okay, but is very tired.  God be her strength!!! 

Also don't forget that community group is Friday night at Suzanne's.  There is much to pray about....  and much to praise God for in this new year.    Also please pray for me as I prepare for a workshop in Benton on Friday and Saturday.  Thank you so much.

Next Community Group meeting

Praise God, here we are at the beginning of a new year. His mercies are new every year and every morning. Great is His faithfulness!!!

Ou first meeting of the New Year is planned for January 13th at Suzanne Patton's home. Yes, Suzanne, has invited us to her home again.... Thanks, Suzanne! Please let me know how that date is for you all.

Read this somewhere.... "Your greatest achievements in the coming year will not be what you do but what God does in you and through you for His glory.". Let's pray that this year... that He will great things in us and through us not for us but for Him!!!!!

Merry Christmas !!! And prayer request

Love came down....  took on flesh... dwelt among us.... explained God to us.... showed us how to live.... then took our sins and went to the cross so that we might live with Him eternally.  NOW THAT IS LOVE.   There is so much talk of love... well, what happened and what we celebrate today is REAL LOVE!!!!   Immanuel God with us!!! And that was just the beginning. God in us changing us .  That Love just keeps on giving.

So in prayer we can love and intercede for those in Nigeria today.  Three churches were burned... lives lost.... believed to be done by the leader of Islam there.  Please pray for the believers there... that God will protect them and spread the gospel through this trial... and for those who did the burning .... that they might see the One true God and come to faith in Him. 

Praises!!!!!!

Suzanne called to say that Tommye does NOT have cancer. Glory to God!!!!! The doctor's said that it is scar tissue or something else, but not cancer!!!!!!!   God is so good.  They will relook at the area in 6 months.  Thanks so much for your prayers for him.  Now let's praise Him as much as we called on Him on Tommy's behalf.

Another praise.... our grandson, Kelly, surrendered his life to Christ today.  Long story, and I haven't heard it all yet, but know that another young man, Zack, told him that he had an encounter with God and how it changed his life.  Kelly came home saying that there were things he needed to change.... he couldn't live the way he was any longer.  He prayed in his room.... then had lunch with Kurt and came home and told Kristin (with some tears) that he had surrendered to the Lord.  Please praise the Lord with me and continue to pray. 

Have a very Merry Christmas!!!  He is worthy of all of our praise... and all of our lives.

Today

Today Tommy, Suzanne's brother, is having a PET scan today.  The doctors have said, (I hope I got this right, Suzanne) that there is a 75% chance that the mass is benign.  Please continue to pray for him.... that God would heal him spiritually and physically.   There is healing in the One who came as a baby in a manger..... the One who came to die that we might live.

Side note.....   I had a wonderful time on the trip to see Kohl graduate from Marine Corp Boot Camp.  Kohl came back changed in so many ways.  More on that another time, but thank you for all your prayers.  I was tired but so grateful to be able to experience it all.

Also continue to pray for Youcef in Iran.  I haven't gotten any more news on him so I am thinking that he is alive and still in prison.  Also pray for the people of Indonesia and that the gospel would spread there to the glory of God.
 

Prayer Request

Suzanne's brother, Tommy, who a lot of you met this past Saturday, had some tests and they found a large mass in his lung.   They will do surgery to remove the mass next week.  Please pray for him and for Suzanne.  Suzanne is not sure if he is saved so let's pray that God will use this time to bring him to the reality of salvation in Jesus Christ, as Shelby's graveside message so beautifully testified.  Also pray for healing of his body to the glory of the Father.

update on Sunday and prayer requests

This Sunday is the EAT and time of fellowship with each other and Him at Suzanne's house at 12 noon or earlier if you want to...   Suzanne will provide the ham (God provided the Lamb for our sins and we celebrate His birth)  and Donna will bring the cole slaw, Sherry fruit, Susan Bowden a vegetable, Linda the potato casserole,  Dan the rolls, and Susan Brown will bring a dessert.  Yummo as my daughter would say.  We are thinking no gift exchange this year!!!  Sooo many needs so we will talk about it Sunday.
Now a story too long to tell, but Kloe has been experiencing problems with her sight.... and when taken to optometrist they were baffled.... she also has headaches and behavioral changes this year, so off to opthamologist and hopefully an MRI of brain to rule out some things.  Please pray for her and for Kristin.... She is at the doctor with someone every week many times .... 2 different children have broken arms and one other one has a badly sprained ankle,etc... and two with eye issues..... And we are off to see Kohl graduate next Tuesday and will be gone for that week.
Also pray for Felicia, Jennifer, and all that we are lifting up.  Thanks!

Prayer

Lots to pray about.....  here are some names..... Jennifer....  Jeremy..... Felicia..... Kelly...... Nicholas.....  Kohl....  Susan.... pain in shoulder.... just to name a few and.... all of us as we walk toward Him waiting on the Lord in all different situations.... and  Israel....and  those who minister to the Arabs and the Jews... that He may do a mighty work there through those who are there to serve and spread the gospel.

Now to the Soverign God who is Immortal, Invisible, all Wise God... May His name be praised in our lives for His glory and our joy in Him.

EAT update

Susan Brown will be bringing a dessert....  Donna will bring our favorite cole slaw....  more additions later.

We will NOT be bringing gifts this year in lieu of a contribution to a needy family or to a ministry or.... you can choose to give something somewhere that God puts on your heart.  

The Community Group Christmas EAT

Well, I think that we are set for next Sunday at 12 noon at Suzanne's (thank you so much, Suzanne).  She is getting a ham, and we will bring the rest of the meal.  I am bringing her party potato casserole.  So you can all pick from a vegetable, dessert, or salad... or something of your choice.  Please let me know what you would like to bring and I will keep us all informed. 
More on the gift giving....  I will get back to you on that later.  The consensus so far has been to give to a ministry, etc.... but haven't heard from everyone yet.
Thanks so much for your patience with me.... administrative and decision related issues are not my forte' but thanks to Suzanne for her help in that area also.  God be praised.... the body of Christ.

Community Group EAT

I am sorry that this is confusing, but would it be possible to change the EAT to December 11th at noon.  I am trying to get as many of us as possible to be able to come for this time of fellowship.  Also, how would you feel about not bringing gifts for each otherthis year but instead using that money to find needs in the community to give to... like Hidden Creek or a needy person or family.  That is not a mandate... just a suggestion.... please weigh in on it when you write me to tell me if you can come on Dec 11. I appreciate your quick response to this as I am trying to firm up the date, etc.

Burial Service for Suzanne's daddy

Suzanne asked me to tell you that there will be a graveside service for her Daddy this Saturday, December 3rd at 11AM at Roselawn Cemetery.  Everyone is invited to come.  Shelby will be speaking.  Please keep Suzanne and her brothers in your prayers.

Me again

Just a note to suggest that we pray for North Africa this week.  Countries like Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Mauritania, Western Sahara, Morocco, Tunisia.   I appreciated Brandon's passion to help us to remember that while we are suffering persecution through words,etc... and while we have much to eat and drink and our safety... Many of the Christians in these countries are experiencing persecution physically and imprisonment.  Heb 13:3 Remember the prisoners, as though in prison with them, and those who are ill-treated, since you yourselves are in the body. 

Community Group EAT

I pray that you had a good Thanksgiving.   Was thinking today how much we have to be thankful for!!!   His grace for salvation heads the list.... but His grace for living each day to His glory is next... followed by so many other things.... like friends, food, breath, etc, etc....  God is so good.  Even in our pain or trials there are many things to praise Him for.   Love you so much..... now

We are looking at December 9th for the big EAT before the Holidays.  I need to know if that date is good for you as soon as it is possible to let me know.  Thanks so much. 

Happy Thanksgiving to you!!!

Just a quick note to say that we are thankful to God for you and pray that you have a great and Blessed Thanksgiving!!!   Read a quote today that said, "Giving thanks is profoundly life giving."  and  "Stress decreases by half simply by multiplying our thanks."   Sooooo  go ahead and over indulge in thankfulness to God.  It can only do good things for our stress level and for our hearts.

Love you all..... we will talk about when to have the Big Community Group EAT when we get back from our Big Thanksgiving EAT.  Remember to lift up those who are in prison and those without jobs and especially those without HIM.  May God show us how to help those in need to His glory.

Paul's prayer for us and mine

I have been thinking and praying since last night about the struggles we are all in and remembering the great power that is ours in Him..... sooo   be encouraged as I am as I pray and believe this prayer.

Paul was being persecuted and he prays for us.... "For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that He would grant you , according to the riches of His glory to be strengthed with power through His Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ, which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. 
Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all the we ask or think, according to the power that works within us.. To Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever/ Amen!!!! " AMEN!!!   Stand Firm in Him, Church!!!!

We don't celebrate Veterans Day, but we do observe it--with gratitude and solemnity. This day was known for decades as Armistice Day. It commemorated that moment in 1918 when the world held its breath: the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. Ninety-three years ago, we saw the end of what they then called the Great War. Following four terrible years of carnage in Europe, Germany appealed to U.S. President Wilson for an armistice. That's a truce, not a surrender. Very soon, however, the victorious allies treated Germany's call as a surrender. And, most tragically, the allies sowed the dragon's teeth that would lead to an even greater war. Today, we honor the service of all veterans. The world is very different today than it was on that first Armistice Day, but the tradition of service before self is still very much alive. The young Americans in our all-volunteer military of today deserve our full support and our fervent prayers. We can and we do debate vigorously over what policies will best secure our liberties and protect this home of freedom. This is what our military has always fought for. For the last 236 years, the armed forces of the United States have been the shield of the republic. Today is a day to honor their sacrifices--but it's also a day to pray for the families of those service members. We think of them especially as we approach Thanksgiving Day and the Christmas season. It's very hard for those dedicated military families to endure the long and dangerous separations. Remember that during World War II, one in 11 Americans was in uniform. These days, only one in 200 Americans man the battlements of freedom. We are in their debt. God bless them all.

The last blog entry got away from me before I was ready.  I edited it but it didn't send that edit as an email... so here is that info and some more info.

Jennifer is in a medical hospital in Nashville.  She is being kept since she has a B/P problem.  That is a good thing.  She says that she wants to come back to Memphis.  Anyway.... keep praying for her and for Suzanne.

The part you didn't receive about Com Group is that we will meet on Friday night at 7PM at the City Smiths.  Please let me know if you will be coming or not.  Thanks so much.  We will NOT be having snacks or dessert.  More on that on Friday night.

Let me try that again

Please continue to keep Jennifer in your prayers.  Let's bombard heaven with praises to the Only One that can help her.... and to pray that God would free her from this thing that has a hold on her.  That He would protect her... bring her into victory.... sustained victory in Him.....  show her the way to freedom through His blood and His sacrifice. And all God's people said, "AMEN!"

Sorry about the last post.  I am using a laptop that I am not used to because my desktop is not working.... and it sent the post before I was ready.  Yikes!!!  or could it have just been me and my computer savvy.

Please Pray

Suzanne is having an outpatient surgical procedure related to her last big surgery. Please pray for doctors and God to oversee this whole procedure and heal her. Also, Jennifer has walked from rehab and is drinking in a hotel room somewhere again. Pray she reaches bottom and owns that alcohol is destroying her and her family relationships. God can heal her if she will only seek Him. Also, volunteers are still needed for Global Village missions project on Nov 16. If you can help, please call Donna Skrivanos at church. Let's Pray

#1  Please continue to pray for Jennifer who is at Cumberland in Nashville.  She called Suzanne on Saturday morning which is a praise...  But please pray that she will "own" that she has a problem with alcohol AND that God will use this time to absolutely FREE her from this addiction.  That she will have Victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

#2  Let's continue to pray for all the requests that were mentioned on Friday night...  Susan's eye....  Grace Village.... The Ludvigsons..... Gretchen....   Felicia....  The Country Smiths.... and Jeremy's first day volunteering tomorrow....  Kohl..... Susan's granddaughter, Emily.... Jennifer's children and husband.... #3  Let's pray for Cambodia ...  a country that is allowing Christians the freedom to workship openly.  Let's pray that God will use this window of time to move in lives to bring salvation and growth in Him.

Well, below are the cast of characters.... and I do mean CHARACTERS at our Com Grp meeting last night.  We had a great time of sharing, praised, and prayer followed by sinfully gorging ourselves on yummy cake provided by Suzanne Patton.... and ice cream provided by Donna and Ernie.  (Note....  Ernie.... I tried to put the pictures next to each other....  by two's....  but they didn't turn out that way on the blog.... any suggestions???)

Please pray that there will be a bed available at Cumberland Hospital in Nashville for Jennifer when she is released from detox.  AND pray that Jennifer would be released from this addiction to serve God in ways that He prepared before the foundation of the world that she should walk in.

Community Group

Community Group will meet at the City Smiths on Friday night, Oct 28th at 7PM.  I hate to be annoying but wondered if you could please let me know if you will be able to come (or not).  Thanks so much!!!!   We have much to be thankful for and much to pray about so come with a heart ready to go to Him. 

Continue to hold up Jennifer who is in Nashville in detox, and then we pray and believe that she will go straight to Cumberland Rehab Hospital.  I may be wrong about the name.  Please also pray for Ted, her husband, and her children, Olivia and Grayson.  The gates of hell cannot prevail against the church of Jesus Christ.... and we ARE the church.... so let's pray.

Welcome Home Jerry Fuess

Jerry Fuess, Suzanne's father, peacefully went home to be with Jesus forever this afternoon. I only knew him a very short time, but he was a gentleman and a very kind man. Continue to pray for Suzanne, as the separation from a loved one is still difficult, even when you know it's coming. Thanks to the country Smiths and Shelby for their visits, especially today. Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!! Welcome Home Jerry Fuess!!

Dorothy Ludvigson's Birthday is today and other things

Happy Birthday to Dorothy Ludvigson!!!!!  Dan, make sure you relate this to her!!!!   We pray her day is full of joy, health, and HIM!!!

Also, we will be having Community Group at the City Smith's on Oct 28th.  Please let me know if you will be there or not.  I will be out of town the rest of this week. 

Suzanne's dad is about the same, and she is staying at Hospice Home Care most of the day.  If you get a chance to stop by I know that she will appreciate it.  But if your time is limited, please lift her and her dad up in prayer as you go through your day.

I am sitting here thinking...  How I see HIM in you.  Thinking that our goal in God is to love Him and show Him to the universe for the praise of His glory....  to show who He is to the universe!!!  That He is who He says He is in His Word!!!!  Whoa Baby!!!!  High calling... and we don't have to do it alone.  The Holy Spirit in us does it as we look at Him in everything we do.   How does that look in the everyday?   Taking Him to the world by working at a job and doing it to His glory and by His direction.... with His attitude with grace, humility, focused on HIM.  And the same with the holding and caring for a child and a teenager with grace.... offering your home...  taking care of wife, husband, anyone who He has given us the privilege to serve at this time in our lives....  painting pictures.... sitting by your daddy when he is slipping into the arms of Jesus.... offering to help.... bearing all things.... hoping all things... choosing not to take offense when we are slighted or hurt...  smiling at the waitress... the store clerk...the (you fill in the blanks).... all to His glory!!  It doesn't have to be a Full Time Ministry..... but it IS a full time ministry...  living our lives on our knees and in the world to His glory!!!   Here is to serving Him in all we do.... big or small things... all to Him.

Suzanne's dad, Youcef, and Community Group

We saw Suzanne and her dad yesterday at Hospice Home Care on Bowman.   He is not very responsive but seems peaceful.  Suzanne's brother should be here by now and will be a great help to her this weekend.  She seemed peaceful and doing well.  Shelby had come to visit them the day before. 
Hope to see you tonight at Jim and Susan's at 7PM.    Thanks to them for having us all there for prayer.  As I write in the background I hear the sounds of our kitchen being repaired.  Praise His Name!!!
Also here is an update on Youcef.  Ernie, if you have more on this please send it also.  Please continue to pray for him and his family.  Praise God he is still alive!!!!!
Update on Youcef Nadarkhani
VOM contacts report that Pastor Nadarkhani's verdict has been delayed again by the court in Gilan province. The reason for the delay, according to his attorney, is that they have referred the case to the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. It is highly unusual for the court to ask for the legal opinion of the Supreme Leader.

Please continue to pray for Youcef, his family and those supporting him.

Prisoner Alert users have reported receiving a letter from the Iranian government renouncing published news about Nadarkhani's case. This is positive! Your voices have been heard and the government of Iran feels the pressure. Please continue to stand with our brother.

Com group meeting

Community Group will meet at Jim and Susan Browns at 7PM on Friday night.  Please let us know if you will be able to come.   We need to spend some time together just praying and praising God.  Hope to see you then.

Suzanne's dad is to be moved to Hospice Home Care on Bowman this afternoon.  Suzanne's brother, Tommy, is coming on Thursday night.  Please continue to hold them all up in prayer.  Her other brother, Jerry, was here recently, also.

Sherry's mom is going to have surgery early this AM.  Please pray for her and for her speedy uncomplicated recovery in Him.   Remembering that He is Jehovah Rapha who heals and restores us spiritually and physically.

Also continue to remember the rest of the group with all that is going on in their lives....  and, of course, Suzanne as she moves her daddy to hospice.  God's amazing grace on whole situation.  May He be glorified in it all.

Community Group WILL be this Friday night.  I will give you an update of where we will be meeting.  Where two or more are gathered.... He will be in the midst.  I love that about HIM.  Thanks for your patience with me these last few weeks... life has been getting in the way of my getting some of the details of the group accomplished.  Also don't forget Yousef in Iran and lifting up Ghana.

Just a quick update.  Suzanne is in the process of having her dad moved to hospice care.  Not sure the name but she is planning for him to go to the same one as Donna's mom.  The infection cannot be irradicated without another surgery, and he is just not strong enough for another surgery.  He is weaker every day and is sleeping most of the time.  Please pray for Suzanne and her dad.

How is this Friday for Com Group???  Please let me know if you will be able to come.

Ghana

In honor of Suzanne and her love for the people of Ghana, as we lift up her dad and her, let's pray for Ghana.
It has had religious freedom since 1992, but they have a lot of poverty.  Let's lift them up to the Lord.... and ask God to show us how to pray and if there is anything that we need to do to help that country.  Also that the churches would continue to preach the Truth and that His Word would go forth in power.

Friends, this world and the world forces of evil want to cause us to fear and to cave in to the fear..... but God calls us to "fear" Him (reverence, awe, keep in the forefront God Almighty) .  The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and where we find peace!!!   Let's face Him and seek His face continually.  Phil 4: 4-7

Just a quick update on Jerry Fuess, Suzanne's dad.  The culture came back, and it is Staph!!!   He was going to be put in isolation today so Suzanne will have to gown, etc when she is in visiting him.  Please pray for them. 

Thinking about the group and the struggles and the obstacles that keep jumping up in front of us.  Remembered 2 Chr 20.... "we are powerless" (except in Jesus) ...  "Nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are on YOU."  The Battle belongs to the Lord, but He does ask us to participate... and in this particular battle.... the praisers went first..  "those who sang and praised Him"... they said,  "Give thanks to the Lord for His lovingkindness is forever."....  and "when they began singing and praising.... the Lord set ambushes against the   enemy.  Soooo first I just want to lift Him up and praise Him.....  and focus.... focus on Him....  How about you???

Suzanne's dad was prepped for surgery and they looked at his new blood test results for today and his white count was going down.... meaning a new IV antibiotic was doing it's job and the infection.... SOOOO they cancelled the surgery.  That is a big praise since of his age and strength.  Thank you, Lord.  They will watch him and if his white count continues to go down and stays down they won't have to go in.  Please pray to that end.

Thanks so much for your prayers for Suzanne and her dad.  She is tired, but grateful.

Suzanne's dad is going to have surgery tomorrow AM to drain a pocket of infection in his hip (the site of his previous surgery).  They may even have to put in a new hip replacement.  Please pray for him and for Suzanne.

Suzanne's ex husband, Nick, was airlifted in to UAMS a couple nights ago with an aortic aneurysm.   He made it through the surgery and is on a ventilator at this time. 

Also Sherry's mom is going to have foot surgery on Tuesday. 

Saints.....  we need to pray.....  with prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let our requests be made known to the only One who is our Healer.  God is able to do all things and give a peace that passes all understanding.

Just heard from a friend of Suzanne's that her dad is back in the hospital.  They think he has an infection.  Please pray for him and for Suzanne.  I will try to give you an update as soon as possible.

It looks like we will NOT be having com group again this week.  Suzanne was going to have it since our kitchen is torn up... now not sure what that status it.   Jim and Susan will be out of town.  Haven't heard from the Country Smiths.... (pray for Jeremy.... he has new insurance and pray that things go well there)....  Donna and Ernie are sick with sinus infections.... so there you are.  I will communicate if we decide that we can have prayer time.   Thanks for you patience.... interesting period of time.

Update: Persecuted Iranian Pastor -- Christian Pastor Yousef Nadarkhani

Persecuted Iranian Pastor -- Christian Pastor Yousef Nadarkhani is still alive, but his life still hangs in the balance as Iranian authorities have added yet a new twist. Cleared by the Supreme Court of apostasy, which carries a death sentence, Pastor Nadarkhani was returned to the court that originally convicted him, for further prosecution. Now, from thin air, Nadarkhani has been charged with rape and other crimes. Advocacy groups are asking believers everywhere to appeal to the Iranian Ambassador and courts.

May God intervene to save Pastor Nadarkhani, protect his family and stop the persecution of Christians in Iran and other Muslim nations! (Ps 56:11; 91: all; Is 54:71; Mt 10:19; Acts 16:23-31; 25:ll; Rev 2:10)

Night of Prayer and Community Group

Night of Prayer at Fellowship is Monday night at 6:30PM in the Edge.  Last month the prayer time was such a blessing and a challenge to Jim and I.  Brandon said that every month the prayer time may have a different format, so it may not be the same as last month, but corporate prayer.... well..... Praise His Name!!!!

Also we would like to have a community group meeting this coming Friday, October 7th.  The problem is that we had a flood in the kitchen a few weeks ago, and since the wood is still wet we will probably not have it repaired by this coming Friday.  Soooo would anyone like to have it at their home???  If so please contact us.... and could everyone please let us know if next Friday is a good night for you to attend.  Thanks so much!!!

Also, again, thanks to Ernie for posting such great birthday greetings... this time to Sherry!!!!!!!   Thanks also for giving us so much information about Youcef.   Please continue to pray for him, and his family and for his quick release!!!  Thanks!!!  

Executing Faith - Pray for the release of Iranian Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani

Executing Faith

For several months, FRC has been calling on Christians and other people of conscience to call for the release of Iranian Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani, who has been tried and convicted of "waging war against Allah" for the simple reason that he refuses to renounce his Christianity. He has now been tried and found guilty for the fourth time--guilty because in open court, he stands up for his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. News reports are ambivalent about his prospects for release. According to this morning's Washington Post, the pastor's lawyer "is hopeful an appeals court will acquit his client." To be clear, Pastor Nadarkhani's "crime" is that he's a Christian and refuses to recant his faith in Christ. He hasn't been a Muslim since his youth--but under Islamic law, his conversion is an affront to Islam that is punishable by death.
Although the Obama administration has been silent about the fate of Pastor Nadarkhani, House Speaker John Boehner yesterday spoke out on his behalf, saying, "This goes beyond the law to an issue of fundamental respect for human dignity. I urge Iran's leaders to abandon this dark path, spare Youcef Nadarkhani's life, and grant him a full and unconditional release." In addition to praying for Pastor Nadarkhani, his wife, and young sons, call the Iranian Interest Section at the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington, DC at (202) 965-4990. Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani, who maintains he has never been a Muslim as an adult, has Islamic ancestry and therefore must recant his faith, an Iranian court determined, or face execution as early as today.

Prayer request

Suzanne's dad had to be taken to the emergency room Friday because he had some redness around his surgical site.  He had IV's, etc... and is back in the nursing home at Presbyterian Village.  Please pray for him. He is very confused at times. 
Also Suzanne's brother is in town, and they are going to decide on Monday whether to move him to Briarwood Nursing Home.  Suzanne had stopped by there and by the grace of God (more on that from Suzanne later) they had a room for her dad.   She just doesn't want to make a mistake in moving him.  Please hold this whole situation up to the Lord God who gives wisdom when we ask for it and moves in our lives to show us His will.

A Word for today or two

Pakistan and thanks for prayers

First.... let's lift up Pakistan this week.  Just keeps coming to my mind and there is such persecution there.  May the Lord strengthen those who are persecuted there and lavish His grace on them.  AND May many come to know Him in this country for their salvation and His glory.

Also thanks so much for your prayers for Kristin's family as Kohl flies out today for SC after a night in a hotel in Memphis and his swearing in this morning.  Kristin spent pretty much the whole weekend with tears in her eyes and heart since she won't hear his voice again until Dec 16th.  Kohl had been pretty nervous but did very well with it all yesterday (thanks again for your prayers).  NOW for the interesting part.  Klara and Kloe behaved terribly all weekend.... UGH.... adding to Kristin's tears.... but GOD ... when Kohl was saying good-bye to them Kristin cried, Kelly cried, and Klara and Kloe cried and cried all the way home.  Kloe kept saying.... "I don't want Kohl to remember me as a mean, bad sister."  Anyway, God used that time for some teaching and holding, etc.  Also one of the boys that Kohl knows from football is quiet but his mom and Kristin talked and they are a Christian family who talked about the Lord all the time they were together.  Sooooo  God be praised and thank you, thank you, for your prayers and for your encouraging comments, too.  We love and appreciate you!!!

Two things

#1  Stefanie will NOT be getting baptized tonight.  She couldn't make the meetings necessary to be baptized this weekend but will be baptized in December (which is the next time they are doing baptisms).  Continue to pray for the residents at Hidden Creek as God brings them to mind.

#2  We have decided to have our Community Group meeting this coming Friday at the Blue Jean Hymn Sing.  Several of you expressed interest in doing that.  Here is the official information. 
Blue Jean Hymn Sing – Friday, September 23, from 5:30-8:00, in the Chapel. Come join us for a picnic (bring a tray of finger foods) at 5:30 in the South Plaza; singing begins at 6:15. Enjoy a time of singing led by Gayle Bone and 2 special musical groups.
We will have a time of prayer right there at the church after the Sing if time allows, and you all would like to stay.  Please let me know if you will be there.  Dan, you are so welcome to bring your mother.   We would love to have her come.  Also a friend of Suzanne's may be joining us.

God was gracious on our trip to Memphis to see Kohl before he leaves for Marine Boot Camp.  I appreciate your prayers.  Thank soooo much.

New look and Prayer meeting

Well, somebody has been sprucing up the blogsite.  I will take a stab and say it was Ernie.  It sure wasn't me, but I do love it.  Thanks, Ernie!!!!!  We appreciat you sooooo much!!  Love you, too, Donna!!!!

Jim and I went to the Prayer Meeting last night, and it was great.  Brandon led it with Bruce Clinton on guitar and Ray Williams finishing up at the end.   Bruce began with Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus and another song.  Then Brandon whose heart was full of emotion and praise, led us first to just raise our voices in prayer and praise to God ... outloud and all at the same time. Then he asked us to read or speak out scriptures that came to our mind, and one at a time scripture came from all over the room... no stories, no other words, just scripture.   I was amazed at how many did that without a Bible..... uh... from memory. Praise His Name!!  Then we prayed for other things outloud (the church, the country, etc) and also did some in small groups with those around us.  Ended with Ray leading us in prayer and with some scripture and then Bruce ended with a worship song.  All in all it is what we have all been praying for.  We were very encouraged by the fact that the Edge was over half full and at the people and how you could hear their hearts as they prayed.

Brandon humbly said that he and some of the elders have been meeting on Wed noon and fasting and praying for God's wisdom and leadership of the church. He said this to encourage us that the leadership is praying and seeking God's leadership. You could hear his emotion in saying that they didn't want their own agenda.... they wanted HIS agenda by His Spirit!!  WOW!!! He encouraged us to pray about doing that ourselves not with them in body.... but with them in the Spirit. 

He also mentioned that the next prayer meeting might not be just like this one....  they were trying to let the Lord lead in what they did each time. All in all a wonderful evening that was highly encouraging and uplifting.
